From DC: The News:
- Washington Capitals make 2nd round of the playoffs
- Water main break snafus trains/metro
- Swine flu
- Swine flu
- Swine flu
- Secretary Sebelius talking about swine flu
- Arlen Specter photo op with Obama/Biden
- Cost of Air One photo op in NYC
in that order...really.
Back in WL:
- Not much news regarding WLIC v Paul Gross case. Court went from 9 to about 2 with a power shortage during (no conspiracy theories please). Apparently Mr Gross did not have an expert witness to testify regarding the discrimination of certain minorities. Both parties may submit documents by 15 May ( or so I am told)
- Received email from Mr Jennerich regarding the Costello/WLIC issue. According to the email some of the trees removed from WLIC property included:
- 2" diameter American Elm, 6" Walnut, 8" Rosebud, 16" Sweet Gum, 18" Hackberry, 4" American Elm, 6" Red Bud, 15" Oak, 18" Hickory, 20" Hackberry
- The appraised value of the trees is $32,320 and the appraisal cost $950.
- WLIC posted a meeting: " The WLIC Board of Directors will hold a Special Board Meeting on Friday May 1, 2009, 6:30PM at City Hall. The agenda will be to consider the status and possible suspension of a membership"
- The Stream Team Committee is having a meeting tomorrow afternoon (Thursday at 4:30PM). I think they do good work but it is difficult for working folks to attend meetings or volunteer during working hours. I have the same gripe when the City does the same thing.

Yep, this time Jennerich put his name on the email from "WLIC.NEWS" but then, I had already guessed it was him the first time this went around. I think it was his use of the word "miscreant"...classic Jennerich.
In my opinion, the properties (his AND the WLIC) looks much improved. I have never seen it look better. That said, there ARE the valid concerns for run-off and chopping down a lot of nice trees (that were unkept by the way). Speaking of run-off, has anyone seen the O-cove project up close? This WLIC project has been allowing run-off of dirt/mud into the cove. Interesting.
Take a look at your own backyard and decide if you'd have any issue with someone clear cutting your trees because they thought it'd look much improved. I assume that'd be valid concern for you.
Use of the word "miscreant" was inappropriate a poor choice of words
On the other had please dont be an apologist without sticking to facts.
Fact : Trees were cut down by someone on property they down own
Subjective excuse: It looks better
I understand some volunteers were out stacking haybales last Saturday trying to stop runoff in to the lake . I have not seen any effort at all on Barry Road to runoff
Were you there or were you meeting with the group of members who are constantly trying to undermine the WLIC on every issue or concern?
Is there anyway our community could just buy a small dredge and maintain the coves just like we do the common areas?
Heres the realy big news back in DC
-The WTC had 80 stories
-We were not sneak attacked in World War II or it would have been appropriate to torture Japanese
-If President Obama authorizes it then it is legal. He is a King now.
-Our medium security prison in Cuba is a model prison
-Twelve soldiers have been convicted of various charges relating to the torture that occurred in Abu Ghraib prison .
No civilians have been convicted for authorizing or conveying authorization to torture
- Lawyers keep you in the sunshine and can help you in court or from college students. They can advise you not to implicate yourself or others on video by saying things like "I did not authorize torture I just conveyed the authorization."
