Dinner conversation with friends the other evening drifted into speculation about the completion of Barry Speedway. Okay, we need to get a life but what we were short on really exciting stuff. They (our friends), being Eastsiders, really couldn't comprehend the significance of the reopening...and admitted to cheating by taking the water route whenever necessary to trek to the Westside gulag. When will the road be done and legal traffic rolling across the culvert? Guesses seemed to hover around mid-December, I said 16 December only to be trumped by my Frau who said 17th (I think it is a tactic she learned watching TV game shows)I mention legal because the traffic on the Speedway has picked up as the requirement for four wheel drive has been reduced. The final layer of asphalt began to be laid yesterday, so it probably is one smooth ride. I saw a trespasser/law breaker/low life go around the barricade last night...on the darkened road. Tempting. Me, I'm saving myself for the legit day, I don't want to feel dirty...cheating.
So what do you think? What will be the magic day for the ribbon cutting...and who will be the first person over the culvert?
Yes, that is a pic of Scotland.

Mike FYI some of those going around the barriers are the people in the few of houses on the South side of the street. The contractors often hv beech blocked off due to asphalt and other construction issues. They have been instructed to use the road.
Sherry says December 3rd/Friday.
