The Whopper

Based on Comments to last post I thought some clarification was in order.

  • The City Hall monuments (one on each side of the road) will cost a total of $103,586
  • The total length of the combined walls is 281 feet.
  • As a comparison the East Side and Barry is projected at 80 feet
  • Kerns, Potomac & West Side, 16 feet
  • Forest, Hillside and 76th at 8 feet.
EAGC member Slaggie commented the walls on either side of East Side at City Hall should have a slowing effect of traffic as it enters the City. (I guess what he meant was a chute like effect).  As Scott commented, "it will give a sense of arrival to our community."  Indeed.

Mike, what is the big deal? So the City elected officials want a monument to themselves at the City Hall entrance, makes sense to me. After all, it compliments the appeal of the boat lot and the dumpy city hall building (looks more like a bunker than a building). I have always thought that "entrance" to the city was the back door, guess not. Barry Road at EastSide and Potomac? Nah, hardly anyone goes past them. Mike, wake up and smell the flagstone, you and your followers are out of touch.

Barry and Eastside no traffic? YOU should wake up and smell the flagstone. The entire Barry Road, Amity and 152 Corridor is slated for MAJOR development by Hunt Midwest. Twice the size of Zona Rosa if memory serves. Poor planning only looks at current stats. Traffic and potential for marketability is absolutely going to increase.

I would think that we would want our image to compete with all the new housing that is going to be created vs. make ourselves look nicer compared to the aged Blair Road corridor. I'm pretty sure new home shoppers don't do a Sunday drive up Cross-Road nor Blair.

Don't forget the propaganda put out by this group on how the monuments are going to increase our property values, yea!

Wish someone would step forward and run for mayor. Truly think they would win. Considering the mayor’s past criminal conviction and the squandering of Kansas City’s money, makes a person wonder what ends up in Mayor Bos’ pocket. (And what else is going on under the radar.) That may be an unfair thing to say but something is very wrong with the way this whole sign thing has been handled. We have a few rotten apples on the sign committee and a few rotten apples running our community.

I’ve noticed a couple of people, who were part of the sign committee at the very beginning, are no longer part of it. I applaud them for that.

Tanya Finn has questioned these sign proceedings before. As an Eastside alderman, very disappointed in her for not doing something about it.

Looks like we’re going to have two more years of rotten apples.

I challenge you to post you name. You are making some very serious accusations about Bos "stealing" money. Put some facts behind said allegations. Quit with this verbiage and pointing fingers. Why don't you run for mayor? Too many people on this blog complain about it being all the same people in office, but then do nothing about it. Until you sack up and run, keep your slander to yourself.

It's a matter of public record on Bos' conviction.

Why don't you post your name, address, and telephone number? My guess is you're closely connected with Bos and his record of conviction still hangs over the heads' of some people.

How would you classify the handling of Kansas City's money?
Misguided?
Naive?
Questionable motives?
Misappropriation?
No one is allowed to wonder or question how the funds were handled?

No one should question or criticize any public official unless that are prepared to run for that office? You probably couldn't handle watching Fox News.

When Jerry Bos came into office, there was a campaign push to audit the city books; Implying misuse of city funds. It follows it was also implicating the previous mayor. Implying similar for Jerry Bos is just tit for tat. Get over it 7:46.
