Some facts about the KC earnings tax, paid by WLeans who work/own businesses in KCMO.
(Yael Abouhalakah, KC Star, August 28, 2008)
The 1% income tax on individuals and businesses (we have both) account for 45% of the KCMO general fund.
- As earnings tax revenues go up, most of it is diverted to pay for TIF projects.
- Earnings tax money is used to pay for street pavements, trash, cut weeds, maintain parks and pay for other city services.
- This is of course in addition to almost 8% in sales tax you pay when you shop in KCMO.

Anyone know how to contact Mr. Ford??? I think we all need to let him know we are sick of being dogged on and complained about. Most residents here do "work" in KC so we do pay KC Earnings tax. I'm sure we all shop in KC as most stores and gas stations around us are KC. Mr. Ford needs to get a life and just fix the bridge. Does he complain that Wild Wood West needs to pay for the bridge, no because they live in KC. However if polled I'm sure they average the same as WL for residents working in KC and paying earnings tax!
