Hook, Line and Xmas Trees

From a recent email to the Fishing Club email list:

"John and I went 2 Walmart Stores and picked up 2 loads Monday and had to throw them off the trailer at the top of the hill at Venita because the road was blocked by snow that was plowed from the roads, I called George and he plowed the road for us, Thank you George"

The road mentioned is the WLIC Venita Access road, private property. I know George's heart was in the right place, unfortunately his (or his Bos') head was not. Use of City equipment for private purposes is out of bounds. The Fishing Club seems to have a special place in this regard (see a past post "Freezer Burn"). Next time you get snowed in your driveway try flagging the City snow plow for a little assistance...don't think that will happen.

Hey George!

Your guys were just using that as a place to turn-around the snow plows, right? Wink Wink!

Come on, Mike! Really? Snow Gestapo?

If my 80 year old neighbor down the street calls George for some help with her driveway should he do it? I'm in the fishing club, all they needed to do was send out an SOS and a number of us would have helped out. I know nobody intended to do anything wrong, but it wasn't right.

Isn't there a 15 foot city easement into the property? Technically, I think they can plow it.

Seems like there's a lot more important things to worry about than George helping out.

You have got to be kidding me, a 15 foot easement?

The property he plowed was WLIC property. Yes, it is private property but so is C-Point and I believe it is cleaned as well. Why? Because our city police cannot adequately patrol properties in and adjacent to our city without having these properties cleared. Whoever mentioned all he had to do was put out an SOS and the residents could help out needs to consider...do we all want to remove snow on the road to C-Point as well?

I see no problem with this request and with George helping out. At best it took him a few minutes to do this and now that it is done, if the police need to see that area it is now clear for them to do so.

God forbid we should help each other out! Mike and Mr. Gross seem to be cut from the same cloth.

Did I mention that one of George's guys pushed all the snow from our cul-de-sac into the mouth of my driveway, not once, but twice!

I guess the same argument can be made like the Anon 80 year old example...the City should clear the driveway in case the Police have to make a call.

Shouldn't WLIC be responsible for keeping C Point accessible if they want patrol or use by members? Why should the city pay for it?

C-point is not plowed by the city.
Snow plowing stops at the property line, near the trash dumpster

We seem to be forgoing any sense of community, helpfulness and simple contribution to a nice place to live so we can just pick at each other over pretty petty stuff.

I do not understand why we live in a city of educated individuals who have to act like COMPLETE BUTTS! I personally live in a cul-de-sac and when I had an issue with where the snow was going I just talked to the guy plowing and he gladly helped out and moved it! Who cares if an access road was plowed by George or anybody else. I agree with the fact that the police do patrol our city (even C-Point private property and all) so why would the city not be able to plow this area. The police do need to be able to SAFELY go through the access area.
As for a neighbor's driveway I don't think our Police dept goes into our driveways when they patrol our houses. Not even when we ask them to check in while we are out of town. They park where? Oh yeah on the STREET! Perhaps Anon 1-3 8:30am should be a GOOD NEIGHBOR and go shovel the driveway for your neighbor. I know I do this for one of my neighbors, because it's the RIGHT thing to do.
GROW UP PEOPLE!
