Like the Golf Cart issue, Google percolated to the top of pressing issues need the BOA's attention. Jerry noted Gladstone had recently accepted/agreed to terms with Google Fiber and that apparently Riss Lake has formed a committee to be Googled as well (leave it to the elite, right?). Just by his tone I could feel a committee being formed and...hizzoner offered the question, "should we have a committee" pointing out citizen Mary Florence might be a candidate to lead such committee.
Luckily Jerry continued without the discussion getting serious. He opined we could meet with Google, but his belief is they will come when they get to us. Alderman Stevenson wanted to know how many Weatherbeans had signed up for the service...his question still hanging in cyberspace, unanswered. Alderman Botbyl asked the question, "are we ready/prepared for disruption of our infrastructure?" pointing out the digging that would be necessary (is that true?) and George pointing out the rocky nature of our topography...oh dear.
Jerry, taking in all the comments, feels we should "go slowly" an ironic comment based on the fact that indeed that is the situation without Fiber. Slowly it is, with a near miss on another appointed committee, phew, that was a close one, huh?

The procrastinators can come up with the impossible or impractical reasons all they want. Google is inevitable. Weatherby Lake has a choice – address is now or wait 10-20-30 yrs. or until we are the very last city in the nation. The install concerns will remain the same either way. We’re not that big of a city. Google isn’t going to be pounding on our doors any time soon unless the city makes an effort.
I agree with Jackdaw. WL should pursue Google, not wait for them to come to us, which could be never. Further, the only digging that is necessary is from the poles to the houses...just like Time-Warner, AT&T and KCPL did.
