Sorry, don't want to get too personal, but I think the answer is NO. At least from the perspective of the Obama stimulus money. MARC (Mid-America Regional Council) has announced its recommendations for the $27 million available for transportation projects on the MO side of the metro (KS side has been announced as well). As reported in the KC Star, Wed, page B2, "Eligible projects were mostly streets designated as collector or arterial roadways or interstate highways". The article mentioned "city officials were disappointed with the amount of money available" Indeed. Parkville did score $105,000 for a Missouri 9 bridge project.
Which brings us back to Weatherby Lake, America. You recall our City fathers and mothers (have to be gender correct, although some of the mothers have called themselves "alderpersons"...huh? I guess the sound of androgyny is better.) The City submitted a laundry list of needs to get stimulus money. $750,000 for "road improvement. Do we have enough to foot the bill without Fed help? If not, what's the plan? Stay tuned, a discussion concerning roads is supposed to happen at the next BOA.
I feel certain you are stimulated now.

Knocking the Stimulus just doesnt seem to cut it .I think most people are scared to death and want something done.

How about your thoughts on the divide between the ideological leader and the political leader of the Republic party.I stress I meant to write republic .Who started this nonsense of making up a new name for the opposition party Like the Democrat Party Is that what the Democratic party calls itself?.Is it the kind of mindless stuff like freedom fries that gets some people thru the complete collapse of a grand old party and a country?

Lately we have seen some politicians telling us earmarks which are guarantees of federal funds for "Pork" ie fixing bridges are "wasteful" Who do you listen too ? Those that had no problem spending trillions of dollars and didnt even include the cost of fighting the "war on terror" in the Federal Budget
Mike your pretty hard on the City but seem to cut a lot of slack up until now on federal fiscal responsibility
When Japan attacked did we start a war on sneak attacks ? Did we attack China ? At least we got the guys who attacked Pearl Harbor
I voted to spend money and allow our new president to try and get us out of this mess we are in and put people who are losing jobs to work here instead of in Iraq

Actually I have stayed focused on WL issues over the past year, not much @ state or national if you look. I certainly have a point of view, but don't want to clog the blog. I guess I could start a blog on national stuff, not sure I have the time. In regards to the stimulus package, I pointed out our City officials submitted $19 million + in requests...think about all the other communities who did the same...or worse. Really. My belief is city government has the ability/obligation to take care of business. It is grassroots and can respond most effectively, if it wants, to us the citizens. The biggest stimulus we can have is to manage our government wisely, efficiently, and provide the services we desire. By MO law we have to have a balanced budget...what a crazy idea, huh?
I must have reacted to "Lipstick on a Pig " , "Obamas Stimulus" and the references to Bill and Rush.
I do understand the unwillingness for some to want to accept and come to terms with about how we really got to where we are today but I know I cant use a four letter word.
