I wasn't at the Platte County Courthouse yesterday for the WLIC user fee proceedings, but I understand it was quite a fiasco. I am digging into the details and will post as I verify. This I do know, the hearing was put off for two months when a particular member requested a continuance from the court. I bet you couldn't guess who that member is?
The circumstances for the request are even more bizarre, at least as told to me. If you were there, feel free to comment.

It must be Kernal Custer. But it's not his last stand. He'll cost more thousands before it's over I'm sure.
It must be Perry Jr
Perry White Jr ... the famous newspaperman
I've heard some of what went on. It's ridiculous. Mike, please keep posting the details as you find out because it's insane. This is only the latest circus Paul Gross is putting on that is costing all of us money. The WLIC is us. It's our money directly that we're having to spend on legal fees and other delays because of this guy. People need to wake up to what he continues to inflict on this community.
I agree
Mike tell us more
I emailed Joe based on the last info that was on here. The way he explained this court date to me was that it only affected new residents to the lake. That they would be charged a fee when the move in to help pay "their" share of what we have been paying. I don't understand why this would affect Paul Gross or anyone else that is a resident here. Could someone elaborate since we didn't attend the meeting. Thanks
To anon 2/21 5:14PM It will impact everyone who sells their property. You will have to disclose to any potential buyer any costs they will assume when they purchase your property. Once the buyer knows about this fee, it will become a negotiation item. The buyer is going to want you to pay. If you don't disclose, then when closing gets near, the title company will contact the WLIC to see if any fees are due or outstanding. Back to the same negotiating stance. Just because the WLIC is trying to institute this fee, it doesn't mean your house went up in value by the same amount. It is another way to try to get someone else to pay for upgrading etc. the WLIC assets. In the end, since their is no 'tooth fairy', we the residents, will pay. For all you fishing lot owners, count your loses!!
to Anon 11:10: You forget one simple thing: WE are the WLIC. Improvements to "WLIC Assets" benefit us the homeowners. And whats wrong with asking new members to contribute to improvements that they will benefit from, and that all of us current homeowners have contributed to? A few years ago a friend of ours looked at buying a home at Lake Quivira where there is a $15,000 buy in. Ours is pretty minimal in comparison. Maybe YOU would rather pay higher annual fees so that the newcomer doesn't have to. Not me.
