Political Chatter

Had some friends over this past weekend, the conversation drifted into local politics. A sampling:
  • The Mayor tends to insert foot in mouth regularly
  • Many concerns over the long term for sewer and water
  • Roads and maintenance challenges
  • Barry Road, promises made, promises broken
  • With Mayor's financial background you would think managing the budget would be a piece of cake
  • Arrogance of the aldermen will be their downfall (and the City)
  • The Mayor's wife is the real powerhouse in the family
  • Many who voted for him in the past election would not today

Yeah, you've got to admit, the Funk is something else.

When I voted for the present mayor, it was mostly based on his CFO background. I don't think he's doing a bad job (compared to other mayors) but thought, with his background, he would have made a difference. There are some very talented people at this lake but it's not worth their time or effort to become involved.

Which Mayor are you talking about?

The Grand Fromage?

I agree with Anon 10:03am that our city has a lot of talented people that will not get involved because it is not worth the hassle. I believe our current WL mayor is doing a very good job. I feel confident he is doing his best for our city. Many improvements have taken place with his appointment. Importantly, he takes ownership of his mistakes. Remarkably, he rarely takes credit or makes a big deal of the good he does and the positive changes he makes.

I only hope he wants to stay on as our Mayor for many years to come.

10:26, good point. I feel our mayor is doing a good job and you are correct in saying he does at least take credit when he does something wrong. Unlike some of those before him, who just wanted to place blame elsewhere. I hope Jerry does want to stay on anothere term. I WILL vote for him!!

Mike

I agree with some of your concerns
But at least the embattled Mayor didnt go out of town for five days ,turn off his cell phone and not tell anyone including his wife where he was going.

Mark Sanford

Who was in Buenos Aires during his five-day absence, not hiking along the Appalachian Trail.

" I wanted to do something exotic" Sanford who traveled alone and drove along the Argentina coast, declined to provide other details.

Interestingly Sanford didnt want Pork-U-Lus / Obama stimulus for his State but has no problem spending cash in Argentina
