WLIC monthly board meeting had interesting discussion of placement of new docks (or so I am told, I was out of town). Here's the scoop.
Apparently Joe came forward with an idea to accommodate the developers of WestRidge and eventually the new homeowners there. The proposal is to have dedicated docks (7) for WestRidge residents with a walk way leading to the area on O Cove off Westside Drive. Not a new idea, previous developers have had similar thoughts, I just don't know if it ever made it to the board. Apparently a majority of board members didn't warm to the idea and the proposal, for now, is going no where. I'm thinking the general membership wouldn't be excited either.
Same tune different verse. Another discussion regarding more docks focused on the possibility of adding docks along the dam. Really. Some board members were less than enthused about this idea as well...thank goodness from my perspective. If space is the issue, the board has helped contribute by continuing the double docks practice.

Two words that generate fear and anger at Weatherby Lake. Annexation and Marina's. So the Marina issue is back up for discussion. Go take a look at the Marina at Riss Lake and imagine that struture in your cove.....
Well I think before anyone complains about the "double docks" lets think about the fact that first tier have more than one dock. On top of that fact the docks are already over double to triple the size of 2nd tier docks. Lets not start complaining about 2nd tier getting 2 dock spaces when first tier has enough space on some of their docks to tie up 3 boats to 1 dock and then they still have a 2nd dock. Grow up Mike and don't complain about someone getting 2 docks. There are 2nd tier houses on this lake that pay more in taxes than 1st tier (and more than you do as well Mike) and the piddly amount more in WLIC fees for 1st tier is not that much more than 2nd. I think more 2nd tier people need to speak up. There are more 2nd tier than 1st tier to begin with. The new houses are now going to get hit with the "New User Fee" then yes they have as much of a right to a dock space as anyone else. Now if they have to be put on a waiting list like the rest of us then that should occur as well. We don't all get our boat right across from us, some of us have boats on the other side of the lake, and that is just the small price we pay to be on the lake. Let them get a dock at where ever a space is open. If they have to drive to Eastside then that is where they drive to!! Just my penny's worth
What is the "double docks practice"?
If you read my post carefully, I didn't make a judgement or complaint about double spaces. I pointed out that if space, or lack of it, is a problem, the continuation of "doubles" contributes to the lack of space. If the membership is fine with it, a majority being 2nd tier, so be it. That being said, if I build a new home in WestRidge, or any lot for that matter, going on the traditional waiting list is what happens, just like buying an existing home and going on the list. I don't see this as a First Tier/2nd Tier issue. All of us pay for the improvements to the lake, wherever we live, if we have a boat on the lake or not.
While yes it is true, everyone pays first and second tier a fee to WLIC regardless of having a boat on the lake. First tier was always automatically allowed 2 docks regardless of the fact that second tier was not. Again as pointed out in the comment 6-17 at 10:00am first tier docks are double to triple the size allowed to second tier. Not to mention new allowances on size are constantly approved when they request variances!

Here we go again with the same loser thinking which is why dont I get the same seat as the person flying in First Class.
If you want that bigger seat then you have to pay for it.
If you want lakefront access buy a first tier home.
The big problem here is this the kind of disgruntled loser that falls in line behind "Neighbors for Socialist Change".

First of all there are a LOT of first tier lots that are far cheaper by at least half,then what many of us LOSER second tier residents have paid for our houses. Grow up and don't say pay more for a first class seat. Especially when I know my coach seat cost more than the jerk in first class paid for his!

Most people carefully consider the cost and benefits of every thing before they buy it .
