Follow-up to the new trash deal, the City has a post on the web site regarding the distribution of the new blue receptacles
http://www.cityofweatherbylake-mo.gov/newsView.aspx?nid=27 :
Bottom line, you can use your new bin (if you have received one) beginning this week, but..." beginning August 5th you must begin using the new receptacles."
An explanatory letter from Allied Waste is supposedly in the mail to give the details of the new trash deal. The City, in my opinion, has fumbled the ball on communications on this one, not sure why. The Mayor and BOA were well aware of an earlier, premature delivery of bins...and discussed it at the BOA meeting on the 5th. Their reliance on the vendor to explain to the citizens the new trash arrangement, fostered by the BOA, is puzzling.
In the meantime, Parkville has gone in the opposite direction, continuing their "choose your own" policy for trash haulers...and not mandating curbside recycling.

Coming home to find a huge blue dumpster in your driveway with absolutely no explanation!! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!
When are the recycling bins going to be distributed?
I canceled my service over this. All involved are stupid.

Are you going to be one of "those guys" who dump their trash in the city hall dumpsters?
If you canceled your service who will you be using?

With all due respect Mike; I was at the meeting as well. I do not remember hearing this at all.
The vendor is providing the service, not the BOA or Mayor. So, they should explain the arrangement. It is Allied who dropped the ball. Try and get Jim Knox on the phone and see what he says...If you can get him on the phone he is ducking calls, for good reason.

Jerry did mention the premature discharge of bins...as you might have observed I take pages of notes and verbatims.
I don't agree with your point on who is responsible for communicating the trash changes. The Mayor and BOA made the decisions for the changes, not Allied. You would think they would want to tell you why and when. There were never any public meetings regarding the issue...other than BOA meetings. Would you like to know the final terms of the contract they made with Allied behalf?
"Call Jim Knox"
What does that have to do with our Mayor and BOA ?
July 14 6:30am. Excellent question which demonstrates the problem. No communication from the city. FYI there are not going to be ecycling bins. This is going to be co-mingling....where apparently Allied will pick through your trash and separate it later. Hmmm, security issues anyone?
If you have questions, don't bother poor Gwen, call your alderman/woman/person. They should know what is going on, right?
We each contracted our service from Allied Waste. Then our government got right in the middle. Both are responsible for this "FIASCO". Both should have notified all citizens well in advance of all details and all options. And these people get to make rules for us?? The only information we get is from blogs and rumors. And by the way, you folks who are worried about what someone does with their garbage, Get A Life, keep your long noses out of everybody elses business. If someone is doing something improper or illegal with their garbage we have rules and laws to take care of that. You are the ones who are at the root of this and many other problems. Last time I checked we lived in a free country, not the USSR!
hey whiners, have you called the mayor or your aldermen? fyi, Bos is your mayor, Finn and Folkedahl are on the east, DeJong and Hoy on the west. If you don't know if you are on the east or west just call all of them. This will require you to get off your a_ _ and look them up in your phone book. You can also call city hall, don't bother. Call them at home, around supper time.
