During comments from the Board, Alderman Bossert shared an idea received from a constituent...why not consider wind power generated by a windmill for the City. Quickly poo-pooed by the Mayor on the basis of the cost of connecting to the grid (he gave a rambling description of his observations from North Dakota) the discussion got legs. Public Works Director George shared with the BOA wind power had been considered at one time for the "shed" at a cost of $86,000. (I overheard a comment in the peanut gallery about all the hot air generated at BOA meetings...not sure if that was a reference to solar or wind...but I digress). City Hall observers will recall Merlin actually inquired some years ago about the possibility of constructing a windmill on his property.
Bottom line: Ed is going to report back to the board with more info.

One of the things I have always said if I were to win the lottery, I would like to fund the building of windmill power to our community. I imagine windmills across the dam. I’m sure many would disagree but it would be a beautiful sight. It would certainly make a statement to our country, provide savings, support self sufficiency, and support green power.
