The Official Unofficial Minutes of the WL BOA
June 3

Mayor Botbyl, during his Comments, addressed the ongoing pursuit of Google Fiber...in a word, forgettaboutit, at least until 2015.  Botbyl began by saying "there was nothing positive to report".  He mentioned having spoke to (not certain who) them and they said they had added "no new communities since March and no new communities are on the schedule".  Botbyl has a meeting scheduled with local GF rep Rachel Merlo (previously Hack) to discuss GF expansion.  During his comments the Mayor asked the question, "Was there a time for an opportunity?" in regards to WL pursuit of GF.  A provocative question, maybe best directed to Jerry Bos and the BOA of 2/3 years ago.  As mentioned in this blog last year, it was Bos' opinion that GF would come "when they are ready", nothing like playing hard to get...right?  (like Overland Park).

Sounds like Mayor Botbyl is at least making an effort?

Got our water bill the other day - $300 dollars. It is getting so expensive to live here. I know WL has a lot to offer with the lake, community activities and various clubs but with the water bill, WLIC's assessments and special assessments it's like one big endless money pit.

Got a letter in the mail about contributing to the signs. Will have to leave that up to the rich people.

I want the best for our children but the costs are starting to take a toll.

I was afraid we had dropped the ball on this. We should have done everything we could have done to court Google when they first came up here, but I understand some folks don't really appreciate the significance of quality internet access and the value increase it can have on their property when it is available.
