Grumpy Old Men

One of the agenda items from Tuesday's BOA meeting was "New Appointees for Committees". You might recall (or let me inform/refresh your memory) last years appointments met with a little resistance, particularly from Alderman Hoy. She eventually voted "nay" to the slate of proposed appointees by then Mayor York, but not before a dissertation on the need for more women. It is my understanding York had solicited input from the alderman prior to the meeting (he received no names) and had requested volunteers via his column in Weatherby Lake Living.

Okay, how did it go Tuesday night? Let's see. 11 new appointees for standing committees were up for consideration. Seven men, four women. But wait...Three men were reappointment's, three women were reappointment's leaving four men and one woman as bona fide new appointments. Say it aint't so!

There were two new committees established. The Audit Committee has three men and three women (politically correct) and the Noise Control Committee has nine members, seven men and 2 women (holy feminazis!). (If you want the names I can put them in comments, just tell me)

During the discussion Alderman Hoy was obviously peeved. She used the word "diversity" a number of times and "gender diversity" at least once. For her, diversity means nose counting M's and F's. If that is the case, take a look at our current Board of Aldermen. Hmmm, Three women and one man...I think we need more gender diversity on the Board, what do you think?

P.S. How did Alderman Hoy vote? Aye...of course!

Please provide the names of the new appointees on the two new committees - Audit and Noise.
I am curious if family members of the Board or Mayor were voted in.

I have published the names in new posting. I do not believe any family members are on the new committees. Brian Stevenson, brother of Alderman Pat White, was appointed to the Planning Commission. Pat abstained on the vote for his nomination on advice of the City Attorney.
