The Sun Also Rises

Finishing my penance for the week in SFO, well it could be worse.  Local news focuses on the state and city budget deficits, even the Dems realize something has to give.  SFO alone is in the red by $630 million.  Got to talk with the head of the City Health Plan, the benefits offered to employees, mostly organized, are stunning, would make even Wisconsin blush.  Changes are coming, everybody agrees.

Even though I was AWOL, a couple of citizens were kind enough to contribute notes/info to pass along to you...so here it goes.

Mayor's Comments

  • Platte County fair this year is #150,  all cities have been asked to attend an organizing meeting.
  • KCMO water rate increase around 4.5% in April/May..."we" have elected not to pass along the increase because we increased rates last year.  (Okay, I can't help but comment on this one.  If you have read this blog at all you realize that Jerry and the BOA have passed up rate increases two years running prior to a belated increase last year.  In my opinion refusal to pass on the increase is short sighted and harmful long term...in a word STUPID.  Sorry, that is the most polite word I can think of.)
  • More to follow, including the latest on Trash and the City's perspective of the KCMO efforts to protect out lake...well what KCMO says.
