When Does "Road Closed" Mean Open?

Cornfused?
Interesting day...began with da boss coming home and declaring Potomac @ Barry was closed.  Being the trusting soul I went to take a looksee myself.  Doggone if she wasn't right, three barricades across (pics on previous post).  Later in the afternoon the barricades had been moved back to allow a car/truck to easily move through.  This evening they had been adjusted again to barely allow a car to squeeze by...and on Barry there was a kind of obstacle course to zig-zag around.  I doubt a fire engine could maneuver around any of it unless a crew hopped out and gave it a heave-ho...what the heck, it's only someone else's house (it will never happen to yours).

The crew of two was still on the job @ 6 as I went to Park Hill for a band concert...didn't see any stops, but they were gunning cars as they came up Barry.

After a warm spring day...what does a person do?

There was no discussion or update at the last board of aldermen meeting regarding Barry Road. Strange? Did they know and just not say anything or were they clueless. You make the call.

Clueless.

Maybe a diagram of how to navigate around on the city website. Do emergency vehicles know the route?

I don't know the answer to your question. I did talk with Vic last evening over the phone. It is his belief that the closings of the streets along Barry do not pose as a problem because Fire and EMS approach from the south, in his words "or so I am told". I believe this is generally true for fire. Typically ambulance is dispatched from QuickTrip/Firestation on Barry, not from the south. Vic was going to talk with Jerry in regards to my question on the length of the closing of Potomac.
Once again school buses will have to figure our routing...don't know if they are allowed to go around Road Closed signs when the road is obviously not closed.

Wednesday morning, NO the fire truck does not know how to get around the lake. This morning was a very good example.

The city's lack of knowing things for sure simply illustrates how ill prepared they are and out of touch with what's going on and most important. Did they even meet with anyone? Although looking for new trash cans can be time consuming.

I wonder how this will affect CC rentals.

Seems to me, "or so I'm told" indicates a lack of concern. They should know and should have seen to it that 1. citizens notified, 2. emergency services notified, 3. school bus notified, all well in advance! We need to overhaul the entire city government!

Had a friend try to drive to my house tonight, got a frantic cell call, "which roads are open?".

Since this involves Westside of the lake, why isn't Hoy posting anything. Because she is the only one running for alderman, just a shoe in. Why should she care?

She is to busy putting up signs and kissing babies in her uncontested campaign

I watched a police car last night, lights off, hiding in the dark between the barrcades on Barry Road by the tennis courts. When cars drove through between the gaps in the barricades, the policeman steps out and stops the cars. Giving tickets? Don't know, probably! I'm sure he's not there for conversation. Now talk about a trap!
