Want To Do The Bump?

If not, call Ed Ford (or Mary). This feature has been known to Upper West Side residents for two weeks, so no fair guessing Where Is It, What Is It.

Speaking of Mary, tonight is BOA night, 7PM, City Hall. I understand there are those who would like to see twice a month BOA meetings...oh the agony! On behalf of Kathy and me...spare us!

It's a simple reminder that Weatherby Lake continues to get hosed everyday by KC.

Mike,

Why do you keep mentioning Mary (in negative terms)? Vic is also responsible for the West side. Why not pick on him? You seem to have an issue with Mary and I cannot imagine why. She has done more than any other alderman in terms of informing her constituents of what is going on. Why do you despise her so much Mike?

Gee, that's kind of harsh, despise. If you look through the blog you'll find Vic mentioned as well. Part of the reason for mentioning her might be because of her yearning to "inform" her constituents. I think the misinformation she sends you has been documented on the blog. Does she correct her mistakes?...nah. Matter of fact, take her last email to her list. Contained a big error in "informing" us about the levy. Catch it? Probably not.

Speaking of Vic, I invited him to walk Potomac in July to see first hand the condition of the road. We did. Will Potomac last another 10+ years as he projected? Ask him.

Sorry, I disagree with you. I have not seen many mistakes and believe the good information out-weighs the mistakes by a long shot. On the other hand, I have seen several from you on this blog. The point is, Mary is providing a much needed service to her residents that they LOVE. If you do not approve of it, why not ask to be removed.

I believe she is doing her best to inform her constituents and I applaud her for it. Is it possible she makes occasional mistakes in the process? Of course, she is human. At least she is trying, which is more than I can say for most. Additionally, I appreciate the time she takes away from her own life to unselfishly provide this information.

Nobody is perfect, that is not my point. If she makes a mistake, and does not correct it, how do you feel. If she omits information that might portray her or her BOA colleagues in a bad light, how do you feel. If you leave any politician to report on themselves, well there are too many examples of how that goes. No problem with her emails...to a point. And that is my point.

Mike,

All good points but I have to say I still think you are being way too critical here. I read her emails and I believe it is more than clear she is not attempting to include every detail of the meeting in her emails...if you want that you can go to the city web site and read the legal version (the minutes). I believe she is simply trying to provide a quick review of highlights, nothing more. Have you brought it to her attention when she has printed a mistake? If not, perhaps she does not even know she errored. Why and how would she correct something she does not know she misprinted? I have personally seen her write retractions because of errors and then go on to make the correction. I have seen this!

Do you really expect her to send emails out to folks on all of her short-comings and those of the BOA? Come on Mike. By the way, did you do that when you were on the BOA? Of course not. No one would and I would not expect them to. I say to all...attend the meetings if that is all you are looking for.

One eastside alderman down, one westside alderman to go. Next election, maybe we'll get it right?
