!! URGENT LAKE LOWERING MESSAGE !!

In case you are not on the WLIC email list...message received 10:12AM, the 18th.
In connection with our C-Point renovation project, it is necessary for the lake level to be lowered approximately four (4) feet below full pool.  We will begin draining water from the lake on September 6, 2010 at an anticipated rate of approximately six-ten inches per week.  Our first phase of the renovation to be completed this fall/winter, will include the replacement of the west end aged sea wall, and the construction of our new gazebo.

If you plan on removing your boat for the winter we are recommending that it be done by September 18th at which time we expect the lake to be drained to a level between 18 and 24 inches below full pool.  This recommendation is based on our experience last year with the lowering to this level, at which time some members experienced difficulty with trailers and their boat removal.  The last day to utilize C-Point ramps will be Sunday September 26th, construction and closing of the ramps and gazebo will occur on Monday September 27th

The Venita boat ramp will remain open during all C-Point construction.  In 2002-3 when the lake was at a level approximately seven (7) feet below full pool, C-Point and Venita Ramps were extended to accommodate that level.  However, there are drop offs of at least 6 inches between the ramp and the extensions which make some trailers unusable.  The water level at Venita at this time is approximately eleven (11) feet at the end of the dock or approximately 10 yards from shore.

As to docks, we will be monitoring our improved seawalls for potential anchoring problems during the lake lowering.  Please notify us if you observe a dock situation that needs attention.   The WLIC will assist the approximately 15 members who have docks at the west end of C-Point coordinate with a vendor for the moving of their docks to M Cove.  All members are encouraged to make arrangements with each other to tie docks together if a problem is anticipated at their location.  It is recommended that dock to shore anchoring cables be loosened appropriately.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.  The C-Point project will be a great asset for our community.  By lowering the water level we will save over $100,000 rather than attempting to replace the sea-wall at normal water levels.

IMPORTANT DATES:
September 6th, lake lowering commences
September 18th, recommended boat removal
September 26th last day C-Point ramps are open

Please contact the WLIC website for updates and additional C-Point information:  www.wlic.org, or as always, feel free to call at (816) 741-5556.

Thank you again,

We are saving $100,000, how much are we spending? Wouldn't hurt to give a little more info. Why is WLIC afraid to communicate with members?

It is none of your business.

Is WLIC giving refunds for partial year not being able to be used by boats??? Fall is one of the most beautiful times to be in your boat on the lake, now they want to not give us that... October is personally my favorite, sometimes even November.... I think it's rediculous to be told September 6th the water lowering will start. I understand saving money, but like Anon 4:22 said How much ARE we spending if we're saving $100,000 ????

Don't you love the personal touch from WLIC leadership, taped phone calls and emails signed "WLIC". Either they are arrogant or stupid or both.

Last time I heard, and it was a LONG time ago, they were talking circa $400K for the whole C-point project........seawall, gazebo, roads, new bathrooms revised parking.

Really $400,000 to RE-DO is what we have really THAT bad that in this economy the WLIC can't think of something BETTER to do with our hard earned dollars. How about next year give everyone a pass on fee's if they have that much surplus in funds. AND if there is that much surplus why make us pay for the bean field that has over 1/2 of being used by the city to fix the road?????

Anonymous said...

There is no surplus, ask a director where the money is coming from, you may be surprised.

Anonymous said...

Ok directors of WLIC where is the money coming from??????

None of them will comment here, their attitude is if you don't attend meetings, forgeddaboutit.

I agree with comments above...it is George Bush's fault.

To Anon 8-24 3:52am
It is obvious you must be retired as you have nothing better to do at 4 am that be on this site. I do not even anticipate EVER getting a penny from the hundreds of thousands I have paid into SS and medicare as it is all going to your generation.. I don't think the fact that people question where money goes justifies calling them "cheapskates, whiners and tightwads"
For that matter if you ran a multi billion dollar corporation that you funded, you would EXPECT no you would DEMAND to know where your money was going

I am not retired !

I have to get up at 4 and work my ass off to live and pay taxes to cover your entitlements

Fact is I am happy to pay taxes to support the ponzi scheme you enjoy and that my parents enjoy

Your generation got me to where I am today Thank You

Enjoy it ! I really am happy to pay for it its my social obligation to pay for it. I would rather do that start but not pay for unneccesary wars

Fact like it or not you probably used up or will use up the
"hundreds of thousands I have paid into SS "in the first few years you retired You probably forgot about the ridiculed "lock box" Another good government idea squashed by those who spend today and pass on debt to our children.

All I ask is that you dont keep complaining about big government programs

ANON 5:32 AM

Agree Dub Ya has alot to do with adding 2 trillion in entitlement debt with Prescription Drug Plan B .
Look who voted for it does it suprise you that it is the same people complaining today about the deficit it is causing.

Easy to do that with so many uniformed people only watching Fixed and Friends "News"
At least Keith calls it Countdown doesnt misrepresent (like alot of things they do)by calling partisan entertainment show or the FOX /RNC channel "News"

Mr. 4:54am I am in my 20's not old like you so NO I do NOT plan on seeing a single penny of the funds I have paid in. As for blaming MY generation, HA! My generation will be paying your medicaid to put you in a retirement home when your family is sick of dealing with you

Last I checked 2010 - 1984 would make me WHAT age people??? Yes 26 so I am not LYING to say in my 20's. I know it has been a while since you had math, but NOTHING about it has changed gramps

I could still whup up on your little ass ...skippy

I WAS NOT BLAMING YOUR GENERATION

Be happy and pay my SS and Medicare and prescription plan B benefits .Frees me up from being a greeter at Wally World so I can go to tea party rallys and complain about big goverment

Now that I think about I still do want big government programs like invasions to help spread freedom for Muslims ,as long as they dont want to build mosques on private property

Come to think of it I want government to enforce the law and go after the guy cutting my lawn

They dont do enough to stop same sex unions and strip clubs

But now Obamas big Government is at it again intervening and preventing me from buying my Viagra abroad You know its a shame Medicare wont cover it like the scooter I just got from the Scooter store

Just because I'm young doesn't mean I voted Obama. Not saying I did or didn't. Just stating that age doesn't determine which liar gets in or not.
I do NOT agree with same sex marriage. I believe each NUT has A BOLT.
I do NOT agree with our hard earned taxes being sent to EVERY other country in the world to help them, when we can't help the people that live in our own country.
On your Viagra, sorry I DON'T agree with taxes paying for your sex life, but to the same tune I DON'T agree that Uncle Sam should be able to tell you that you can only have one if you pay for it in the United States (seems kinda like a government form of prostitution!)

Anonymous said...

I understand why you wont say you did or didnt vote for Obama as you are just a GRIZZLY CUB and not expected to be smart

Speaking of Liars and Bolts you know Ken Mehlman who was at the lead of Karl Roves many GOP Wars including a culture war is a bolt and now he is compelled to admit he likes other bolts.

No problem that he betrayed himself but believe he really did more damage lying and promoting a stupid war than he did by betraying himself

He’s gone but we still have Mitch McConnell lying about the war and the causes of the deficit which I find troubling. But do you ever wonder is there anything else he is lying about?
