This is the problem: patio homes crusaders are willy nilly wanting to hand it over to some developer to come up with a proposal, i.e.: Mary Hoys’ letter: “amending Code to allow developers to present Planned Unit Developments (PUDS) providing maintenance free and/or patio homes.”

Why aren’t the patio homes crusaders specifying the design and development including addressing ever possible objection?

I’m not saying the idea is bad, but I don’t trust individuals who don’t want to put their nose to the grindstone and come up with a solid plan on paper.

This did not start with the “good of the community” intentions. It started with those few who want to live in the patio home neighborhood. In other words it is self serving.

So far it is all talk. There is nothing to say this concept isn't going to look like the picture shown in this blog.

Sign me up! I'll buy one. Then I'm going to turn around and sublet it out every 6 months, or use it as a seasonal rental for the highest bidder. I don't care that this is a bedroom community. Then, I'm going to tear down my house, and build a multi-unit plex on my lot and do the same. My investments are hurting, I might was well create a steady income stream. Yay! Bring on ordinance change without doing the proper planning work!!!!!

Good point 4:37. And there are dozens and dozens of more items that need to be identified and deliberated.

A few years ago, a minister at our church made a good point which stuck with us. She called together the congregation to brainstorm on what they would like the church to do or be involved in. Several got up and exclaimed one idea or another. Then she asked who would like to head up their idea. Dead silence. It’s so easy to put it out there. It’s another to implement.

Not well thought out. Trying to be a freight train to get approved. No one in support dealing with implications. Just self serving. An Alderman without the community at large interest.

I think Bob is right, Hoy and Bos need to have their heads examined.

Is that a double wide trailer?

I don't get it.

Build a retirement friendly house on a lot in WestRidge; put nice maintenance free siding on, plant a couple of trees and bushes; and for the same price of the monthly maintenance fee, hire someone to mow your lawn.

Everyone is happy.

I dont live at Weatherby but I would like to rent a patio home

At my church the Rev. Leroy was trying to get our people to be more enthusiastic about our church, so he said in his sermon, “If this church is going to get anywhere, it has to learn to crawl.”
And our people said, “Let it crawl, Rev. Let it crawl!” Then he said, “And after it learns to crawl, it has to learn to walk.” And our people said, “Let it walk, Rev. Let it walk!” Then he got excited and said, “After this church learns to walk, it has to learn to run! And if this church is going to run, it’s going to take money!” And our people said, “Let it crawl, Rev. Let it crawl!”
I hear its like that at WL

3:45am....thanks for your comment, it's a great example in support of the OPPOSITION to this plan!

Your reverend suggests that you have to "crawl before you run". Problem is, Mary's plan is that she's proposing we sprint to the finish line before we've gotten down on our hands and knees and properly crawled through this issue.

To alter your metaphor....she's requesting the city put its residents on their hands and knees in the middle of a highway ----SPLAT!!!!! That's what happens when there's not proper preparation, planning and caution.

Amen, 5:47 AM.

3:45 AM, that's EXACTLY what we DON'T want. Building houses to become cheap rental property! 5:47 is right, great input to support the oppostion.

3:45 AM comment has to be some sort of joke.

It is a joke I really dont know what Jackdaw was talking about Mary is trying to implement something Something I think is a bad idea

I am against Marys plan

I also regret people are against anything worhtwhile here unless somebody else pays for it

Its taken way to long to build the pavillion at C point

Hey, we could restrict the patio homes to the bean field. That way all that money we spent on that boondoggle might not have gone for naught after all!

Have you ever served or is your job to be a monday morning boondoggler

The above 5:13 comment would seem to indicate that he or she has or is serving and is of the opinion that those who have not served have no right to a voice or an opinion. Now isn't that interesting!
