I have lived at this lake for a very, very long time. Have lived through all sorts of political alignments, elite and not-so elite groups, cliques, and factions. There has always been anonymous mailings, mud-slinging, and behind the scenes perceived manipulations. Have seen factions slowly dissipate, never to be heard from. New ones rise to power with pretty much the same kind of agendas. Somehow through all of this our lake is still in good working condition, still feel safe and secure, and I can still afford to live here. I enjoy looking over the lake with a cup of coffee every morning, my grandchildren coming over to fish or swim, and just spending time on the boat . I have always felt like I live at a resort. So while people do their thing with clubs, city council meetings, community events, etc., I'm happy and thank God for the life I have had here.
It is true, long gone are those such as Bill Maxwell and Pauli Kendrick. Even Bob Medill who was a major part of lake living and politics. Haven't heard much about Lance Welch in some time. Some return to just being our neighbors, some leave us for that lake in the sky. It is a small minority involved in running our city. Give it time and there will be another course in a few years. What is constant is our beautiful lake and the enjoyment it brings. My guess, that is where the majority is at.

Sometimes it is just pure entertainment to see what happens next in our community
What a lovely sentiment 1:31 p.m. I wish others could digest the ebb and flow in the same balanced way.
