Seeping Sewers

Interesting article in KC Star Saturday (B1) reporting the NKC survey of its sewer system using video technology. WL, as I have reported previously, has done the same for the gravity portion of our system. This was commissioned by then Mayor York last year. Problems have been identified and the "fix" for WL is being determined as we speak. The public hearing later this month will discuss sewer rates (read increase) and hopefully a longer term plan for funding. NKC has used a lining technology that is one solution the City is considering. Part of the required upgrades by KCMO will have a downstream (pardon the visual) effect on us. Concern about ground water seepage into the system is a big concern. At least we are ahead of the curve of knowing where our problems are and what needs to be done. Just need the money.
