Monument Email Template

As promised.

Multiple Choice/Fill in the Blank Template for the WL Monument Project

Dear (Jerry, Mary, Vic, Dave, Tanya, or all),

I am (satisfied/disgusted) regarding your role in the monument project.  I feel three years is (adequate/unreasonable) to plan the project and hope construction (begins/never begins) in 2012.  Do you know when the original monument at Barry Road and Eastside Drive will be built?  I (care/don’t care) if that monument is not built first.  Likewise it (doesn’t/does) concern me that half of the money for replacement of the original monuments has already been spent with not one monument being constructed.  Because the 19 member Entrance Advisory Group Committee is advisory in nature, I think you (should/should not) take a more active role in spending tax payers money.  Because there is no specific line item in the 2012 city budget, could you (tell me/estimate) how much the entire project will cost, including the maintenance costs for the new monuments?

I (do/do not) believe all of the existing monuments need to be replaced.  It (does/does not) make sense to move forward with the project as it is currently proposed.  I think it is (important/not important) that the impetus for the project is the ability for donors to get a tax write off for their donations.  I (will, will not) donate for the project, and hope you do the same.  Finally, I (hope/don’t care) that you go on the record at the next BOA regarding your position of the project.
Thanks,
Your Name

I had a Christmas party at my home this week, two guests were first timers to the lake. Both said their impressions of WL were formed by the adverse publicity of geese and trespassing. When I asked how important would it be to have a monument to indicate WL, they both responded in unison, "you have to be kidding?". One said, why don't you buy a new police car instead?

I would like to see someone who has common sense run for mayor or alderman .

"I would like to see someone who has common sense run for mayor or alderman."

And how does anyone think that going to happen?

What incentive does WL offer to anyone, with the necessary expertize, to step up to the plate to run this city?

Our city is run by volunteers. Kudos to our volunteers but don't expect the cream of the crop to come forward and run for office.

WLIC is run by volunteers, the city is run by elected officials, paid, who are bound by state law. You have stumbled upon our problem, our current elected officials want to run the city like a club, volunteers and all. Thus we see numerous violations of state law as noted on this blog and focus on having a good time, after all, Life is Good at Weatherby Lake.

Our elected officials are paid a paltry amount. They're essentially no different than volunteers. Until the people of Weatherby Lake offer a worthwhile incentive, no one with substance is going to come forward and run this city. In the meantime, what we have on council now is as good as it going to get.

What is the percentage of people at Weatherby Lake truly tuned in on the activities of our city council? My guess is, the majority accepts whatever decisions are made and pay no further attention. Ask my neighbor. As long as nothing disrupts her life, she has little interest in what is going on. So the question is, if somehow we got in a hot shot mayor and council, how many would notice?
