Free For All Friday

A number of comments regarding Weatherby Lake Living have been posted. Just a personal comment. I have sent emails to both Debbie Leafblad and Pat Medill in the past three weeks regarding the members of the Editorial Board of the publication. Pat has not responded to my emails and Debbie has deferred to Pat. I simply asked if they could/would disclose who is on the Editorial Board. I also asked Debbie, if she didn't know who is on the Board, who at MET Media Group could tell me. She has not responded to that request. Not sure why this is a mystery.

Because our city or its clubs did not have the funds to financially support a newsletter, a private group of people stepped in to continue the newsletter. In essence, this private group decides what goes out to the Weatherby Lake public. I think the intent of the new newsletter was well meaning but there is something wrong with this kind of arrangement. Its not a direct community supported newsletter.

I read Pat White's comment concerning her print time in WL Living. One thing she didn't mention, or maybe didn't know, was all the aldermen were highlighted in WL living, but curiously, Mayor York was not. Intentional? Oversight? You make the call.

Weatherby Lake Living is a publication of a private company, for profit I assume. They have no obligation to represent the community or be fair. That being said even the KC Star makes the members of their editorial board public. WL Living does not.

well, im sure if its for profit its not for much. printing costs, delivery costs, designing costs and folding/stuffing them into those plastic bags must cost a lot. Im sure that when its all paid for there's very little left.

And because its just a free newsletter and not a newspaper or magazine with a paid subscription they probably don't have to disclose specific information on their editorial board. I assume the kc star does because people pay for it.

In my own opinion, The newsletter is a good thing to have at the lake, it helps get information out to everybody and keeps everybody informed about whats going on in our city.

i guess my response is, If you dont like it, dont read it.
