Where Is Waldo?

2nd term alderman Mary Hoy is just getting around to understanding the geography outside the Lake...apparently. Her email list received an update of a meeting of the Citizen's Advisory Committee on the Platte County Land Use Plan (phew, that's a mouthful). Mary found it "very interesting and especially concerning" that much of the "lands" surrounding the Lake are in Platte County. "Of special interest is the Owen's property..."

Surely Mary remembers the Owens property is in unincorporated Platte County. The court/legal battles have been going on for years. Interesting Mary's mentor, County Commissioner Dusenbery, was late to join the fray against Owens, and then tepid at best. It was so she would not be isolated in her upcoming battle with Bill Quitmeier for the Commission spot...Bill had been "all in" in the Owens fight. Couldn't have anything to do with the contribution to the Dusenbery campaign (which Hoy was the Treasurer) from one of Owens' attorneys? Nah.

Any way, as Mary points out, there will be a County Commission meeting @ 6:30 on the 27th regarding land use.

Waldo? At 75th and Wornall in downtown Waldo is some of the best pizza in the world...Waldo Pizza. Just around the corner from the 75th Street Brewery. Both winners.

One might even go so far as to say the ALL of the land surrounding our lake is in Platte County. Nice to know, though, that our own little politicians can act just like the big boys.

Mike,

I think you ought to go back and re-read the email she sent out. I believe you are wrong...she knows what county the land around WL is in and nothing in that email indicated otherwise. I may not be a "Mary worshiper" but this is ridiculous.

If you want to pick on an alderman why not ask Tanya Finn where that dog park is that she promised over a year and a half ago?

Dear Residents:

I just returned from a Citizen's Advisory Committee on the Platte County
Future Land Use Plan. I found it very interesting and especially concerning
those lands adjacent to Weatherby Lake which reside in Platte County, which
is basically all of our surrounding land except for Barry Road (which is
Kansas City). Of special interest is the Owen's property to the east and
the land to the west and south.

A Public Meeting will be held next Tuesday, October 27th at 6:30 PM at the
County Commission meeting room in Platte City seeking input from Platte
County residents. I urge you to consider attending.

If you've wondered why Platte County has not commenced work on their section
of Barry Road, it is because they need to go to court over a temporary
easement dispute.

Mary

So anon 10/23 348pm Mike was correct in his posting. Mary, by her own email, doesn't understand the difference between a 'county' and a 'city'. Mary very clearly states the land along Barry Road is NOT in Platte County. Details like this DO matter. You would think a person who likes to remind everyone every chance she gets of her education would know the difference. Reminds me that highly educated (PHD) folks normally have little 'common sense'. Mary continues to show us she has none of the later.

My Bantams crow on & off from 4:15 am until close to midnight. Even on the sunniest days those little guys will be out there crowing at noon! If I flip on the flood lights during the night that will start all of them crowing and then they will continue even after the light is off. I like the chicken dance, it's so funny since the only ones impressed are the other roosters and never the hens. She lays an egg every day so I am sure it's a she but she lets out with a crow every morning!
