Article by Glenn Rice reporting a petition drive launched by KCMO "urban core leaders" to place a 1/8 cent sales tax on the ballot to address "blight, economic development and neighborhood stabilization". Among other things, the organizers hope to "create jobs" with the money raised. Really. The organizers are using the KC Zoo tax (1/8 cent sales tax) as a template to generate funds/funding.
