Things Aren't Always As They Seem

"There's more than you could ever know
Behind the scenes"

            Francesca Battistelli,  My Paper Heart

First glance, the upcoming WL election appears rather benign, two new hopefuls trying their first shot at becoming an Alderman on each side of the lake and an incumbent Mayor running for re-election.  Nothing unusual there, right?  If  you were a WL outsider that is what you see.  But, my friends, there is more, much more.  Political intrigue. Political payback.  Legal threats, some might say legal bullying.  A property dispute with a neighbor.  A BZA ( Board of Zoning Adjustment) Hearing.  A Planning Commission Hearing. A Board of Aldermen vote.  A re-vote on the same issue.  A potential confrontation with the WLIC.  An Alderman (Stevenson) not up for re-election right in the middle of it all.  His brother in-law, lecturing the Board regarding the Constitution, and then demanding the resignation of two of the Board members...Finn and Clark.  The Mayor, openly supportive of Stevenson.  A City Attorney providing legal advice to an Alderman in a questionable situation, at best.  Confused?  Don't be.  There is more.

But I digress.

Tomorrow a look at the West Ward Alderman race.

I was confused by some of the questions at the forum. What is the issue really?

Surprised to see you back.

Botbyl wants Finn and Clark out and his own people in. He wants total control so he and Brian can do whatever they want.

Has Stevenson used the power of his position to get his property done?

Brian Stevenson is a real jerk. There is always at least one in every community.
This guy actually had the audacity to propose to WLIC that he be allowed to build a cantilevered dock from his shoreline to hang out over the lake! Please vote this moron out next year. City hall would be better off with him and nutjob relatives.

Oh Boy!! Poke an 11 month hibernating skunk and everything starts to smell. Anonymous 4:18 apparently listens to rumors rather than facts. Building proposals go to the City, not the WLIC. There was no proposal to build a cantilevered dock (or deck, for that matter). It seems that the jerk here is 4:18.

BTW, Brian Stevenson and "his nut job relatives" have and continue to participate and contribute to this great city. What have you done?

Yawn. Still waiting for your enlightenment, Mike., Or have you gone back into hibernation??

Little Boy Blue - all dock and seawall plans are approved by the WLIC NOT the City.....wrong again. Please write more so we can show your true intentions. 418 is correct.

418 is right on....Brian really got interested in serving when he wanted something from the City, otherwise didn't know where City Hall was located.

Anonymous - I'd love to have a battle of wits with you, but you are obviously unarmed!!
