A Little Leverage

One of the strategies for fund raising discussed at the EAGC meeting came up when the pros and cons of building the Barry/East Side monument in phase one. Jim Miller went over the rationale for not including the Barry Road monument concluding, with a wry smile, that it just might be a reason for folks to contribute if the want that monument done. Odd. All the funds provided by KCMO will have been spent before construction of the Barry road monument has been built and that should encourage folks to ante up?

By the way. I think you can view the renderings of the various entrances at City Hall. I'd be interested in your thoughts, especially on the prototype for Forest/Hillside.

Believe Jim Miller lives on Westside. It would follow he could care less about Eastside. Jim Miller, what community do you live in? Westside community or City of Weatherby Lake community? Someone mentioned not to forget the names on the EAGC. Won't forget his name now or twenty years from now.

I don't think it makes a difference where you live, east/west, 1st/2nd tier, so please don't start that. what bothers me is this group has been fairly secretive, when was the last time anyone has sent info to the community?

Oh, I think it does make a difference where one lives 4:57. Anyone living on the Westside isn't going to be driving or reminded by that ugly tacked-on-a-pole sign everyday like someone living on the Eastside will.

EAGC’s statement on the City of Weatherby Lake website:

“The Weatherby Lake Entrance Project has received around $270,000 in commitments so far, but we need your help and support to make it a reality.”

I’m assuming approx 150K commitments have backed out. Otherwise there wouldn’t be an issue over the Eastside/Barry sign.

Question is why, maybe they're flaky people or . . . could it be people don’t trust the judicial use of their contributions?

The EAGC reminds me of those dodgy charities that give a small minority of contributions to the actual cause and use the rest for “administrative expenses”.

KC’ money:
40% goes to the sign, 60% for “other”.

Or since there is no Eastside/Barry sign on the immediate horizon,

0% goes to the sign, 100% for “other”.

I personally have back out of any commitment because nothing appears to be on the up and up.

There are so many more important, honest and desperately needy charities in this world that need support.

Mike, can't find the sign prototypes on the Weatherby Lake web site.
