Bos-anova

The Official Unofficial Minutes of the WL BOA
6 November

It is official, based on the BOA vote last evening:

Water Rates
In City Rates
$11.00 per 1000 for the first 4000, $4.30 for all thereafter
Out of City Rates
$22.00 per 1000 for the first 4000, $8.60 for all thereafter

Sewer rates:
$150 bi-monthly
$24 bi-monthly grinder pump fee

Jerry, waltzing with Vic, did the two step during the public meeting to discuss rates and during the vote to formalize the rates.  Why the seemingly high increases?  "To build up the reserves, we need to grow the reserves".  The reason?  Potential repairs to the system in the future...although Vic admitted the life of the pipes that may need to be replaced is "50 to 100" years.  Really.  Vic projected increasing the reserves by $1 million dollars for every ten years replacement was not necessary...adding up to potentially $5 million dollars (50 years x $1million per each decade avoided)  Question from the audience, why not consider leaving the money in citizens pockets and do a bond issue for repairs (similar to water tower issue).  Whoa!  Vic and Jerry brought out the crucifixes like they had seen Rosemary's Baby.  NO!  Later in the evening during the vote for rates, Jerry again voiced his opposition to a bond issue versus jacking up rates now.  He thought a bond issue was not fair in that it was a way to pay for repairs based on how big your home was (spoken like an individual who has one of the more pricey homes on the lake).

There is a plan for water and sewer, see the City website.

Do they anticipate another rate increase form KCMO in April/May?  Yes, but they do not know how much.  Should they wait until then (increasing rates) so they know exactly what the rates would be.  Nah.

The rest of the BOA sat mostly mute as the citizens present made their points, summarily dismissed by WL version of Arthur Murray (age test for readers).

Wanna dance?

I think everyone should settle down about this. What is the big issue - that taxes & fees are going up?

Get used to it. This tax issue was litigated in front of the American people on November 6th.

Higher taxes prevailed. Big time.

40% top marginal rate + 3.5% Medicare tax in '13 to pay for Obamacare + state income taxes.

Relax and enjoy it. If something goes wrong, the government will be there for you. Plus, the unions appreciate your efforts on their behalf also.

All of this seems to have worked well for Europe, right?

They have really good wine over there I have heard.

Sincerely,
Long Legged Mack Daddy

Let's just say it is double digit, you can figure it out when you get your bill...better yet, call your alderman, they know exactly and they all approved it.

These water and sewer rates seem to be excessively high. Not just this recent listed increase either. Probably of no consequence to the millionaires who live here but some of us are retired and living on fixed incomes. Water and sewer are necessities of life! These rates are getting to be more like a car payment. Also us retirees don’t use nearly as much water as other folks and therefore use the sewer less. Why is our sewer bill not tied to water usage? This is not fair! Maybe there is good reason for this high rate, but surely it should drop back down at some point. I know of no other cities or neighborhoods that pay anywhere near these rates. Does anyone outside the Weatherby Lake Water Dept. pay such high rates? This is becoming unbearable.

The surprising truth about lies is that some people believe them

We know ,it’s someone else ,you know the lazy the poor and unemployed moochers who are the cause of our imminent demise.

I would bet $10, 000that Long Legged Daddy gets Socialism Security and that he is in the 47% who live off the rest of us.

I know where my tax dollars are allocated and about 70 % of it goes to Medicare Social Security Offense and interest

Karl Rove was at one time a little smarter and he knew that seniors vote . He knew that when he granted you a “socialist “never paid for Drug Plan D that he would get your vote.

So look in the mirror next time you want to say we are like Europe, because we are like Europe .

Karl and Dubya added to the promise that you get and its more the other 53% of us my kids can afford.

Where do you want to cut of what you get?

Oh I see you want to cut other peoples inheritance not yours!

There is a lot of money to be made from ‘Socialism”

Do you notice all those TV commercial for the Scooter Store ,hoverounds ,catheters and diabetes testing

Look you get it all, with “no out of pocket expense “ !!! Do you ever wonder who pays for those ads , and those catheters ?

Look in the mirror , there is the problem it is between your ears

There is a lot of money to be made from War particularly the last ten years ,but lets not quarrel and quibble over how many trillions it was . Two or Three Trillion is close enough for government work

How many of the politicians that you like are for a “strong defense “ or a strong offense ?

A “strong defense “ or is it a strong offense ? How many have ties or take money from defense contractors ? Do you know ? When our latest two wars end we must need another don’t we? Follow the money

I know you what a strong defense We got it and we got a strong offense to and of course we can build Missile Shield for Poland and have troops in Germany and South Korea .

By the way Germany and South Korea have America Care or Universal Health Care which is a little better than “Obama care”

Enjoy your inheritance and stop complaining

Honor our vets today and the other365 days a year and dont elect war mongering polititians who got deferments when it was their turn to be brave

Long Legged Mack Daddy here - responding to 5:47AM post above.

(5:47AM? That is awful early to be reading a Weatherby Lake blog - or maybe late?)

I would like to respond to your post, but frankly, with all the errors in punctuation and typical English prose, I just can't understand your post.

Have a good day.
