A Nuisance of a Meeting

Without any fanfare a meeting agenda was posted on the City website (http://www.cityofweatherbylake-mo.gov/Agendas/102.pdf) October 14th announcing a Special Board Meeting of the Board of Alderman on Monday the 20th at 1:30 PM . The puropose?..." Review of the Weatherby Lake Code as it pertains to nuisances." Now I can think of lots of nuisances to consider, some on the BOA itself. In the spirit of transparency I guess I would have to nominate myself as well, especially from the perspective of the nuisances on the board. I'm not sure nuisances are a priority in the City right now, but I defer to the City leaders on this one. I am generally opposed to meetings during working hours unless there is an emergency that needs to be dealt with. Our community is comprised mainly of working households which makes attendance at weekday, business hours BOA meetings impossible to attend. Does the mayor and BOA want public input and feedback? Schedule meetings after business hours so working people can choose to attend. In the meantime, call Jerry, Mary, Pat, Vic and Tanya with your favorite nomination for nuisances, I feel sure they would appreciate your input.

What are the nuisances at issue? Does anyone know? Why a special meeting? And why at a time when the majority of the community cannot attend? Has there been a a major nuisance brought up for discussion in the public meetings? My guess is some member of our city council has a personal problem with something and they want it addressed.

Mike, there is more than meets the eye here. It was stated by someone before questioning one of the city council member's motives while at the same time putting on a best-interest-of-the-community facade. I know a little bit about it and agree we have a council member integrity issue. In answer to the previous comment, let's see if this council member's personal agenda come to light in this nuisance meeting.

I just received my Mary Hoy email and she says the meeting is at 1:00 Monday. Which is correct - 1:00 or 1:30 (does not matter since I work and can not attend)????

I just got an email from Mary Hoy saying the meeting is at 1:00pm. Just so no misses anything.

Well, actually 1 and 1:30 are both correct if you check the city website. Two meetings are posted, a consideration of an ordinance (Red Flag) is @ 1 and the Nuisance Meeting at 1:30, double the pleasure, double the fun.

I agree with Mike (which I don't often do) We have far more issues to deal with than any nuisance I have seen anywhere here at Weatherby. Also why are they holding it during hours the majority could never attend, especially with no notice. How about they work on fixing REAL problems in the city!!

This board and Mayor do not want us at the meetings. Thats why they set them during the day!

Was not able to attend the meeting. Like others, I have a day job. Was anyone able to attend and find out what nuisances have become of such great importance that a special meeting was called? And what happened to the nuisance committee? We were warned at election time that four of our city council (Bos, DeJong, Hoy & White) are in alliance. If Stevenson (White's brother) had been voted in, it would have been unanimous. What personal agendas are coming into play? It's unfortunate the previous entry is not comfortable with shedding light on the alleged indiscretion of one or more of our council members. Perhaps it will come out in the near future.
