Signtology 201 & Strange Bedfellows

Ok, class now in session, time again to visit the local scene for political signs and what they mean. Remember, it isn't just the sign itself, it is yard the sign is in, companion signs in the yard and the absence of signs themselves.

First observation: A heated national race has generated relatively few yard signs. I expected many more signs. Interesting.
2nd observation: There are the sprinkling of "vote the ticket" yards, Democratic and Republican
3rd observation: Split tickets. McCain/Quitmeier...Obama/Dusenberry, party aberrations happening at the county level. (Full disclosure, our yard has the former).
4th observation: Some prominent WLakeans who in the past traditionally had signs are signless...what to make of that?

Your assignment: Observe and comment on the signs of the season.

Extra Credit: Fantasy Ticket. The 3rd observation got me to thinking. What if... Have you ever played Fantasy Football/Baseball (Hockey?JN?). Basically you have a mock draft of professional players and make your own team. How about fantasy politics, mixing national and local politicians...example, Palin/Quitmeier or Obama/Dusenberry? Move to the head of the class, submit your tickets!

I personally usually have yard signage. However this year I have not been asked to put any up. Possibly the BRB has something to do with that. Maybe they are feeling my yard doesn' t get the attention it did during the last elections????

Observation on signs

As I drive I wonder why people “in the know” would support local candidates who were not friends of our community in the past

Our signs reflect our local politics

People remain proud of their affiliations despite the fact that they followed a guy that put us all in the mess we are in

Some of us tried to tell you that following him was a mistake but you would not listen. Fool you once ..

We shouldn’t put confidence in someone without completely understanding his agenda

Get the “facts” from more than one source

It is easy to blame everything on the other guy.

I cant put up my Ron Paul sign now or you will know who I am

My fantasy is Ron Paul winning the Republican Nomination. He is the only politician in years I have wanted to put up a sign for. People should watch these videos. We use these machines.

Just out of curiosity, I see one other poster was for Ron Paul. How many Weatherby citizens here voted for him..quickie poll. This clip was censored from the rebroadcast of the debates.

Wouldn’t it be great if Ron Paul could win and we would have a fiscally responsible conservative who who has an intelligent aproach to foreign policy .

Or if that wont happen how about a left wing liberal Marxist ?

Either way we all know things would be way better that they are now.

Here’s my Sports Fantasy Analogy .

Bottom of the 8th the righty we have in is getting pounded by even the batboys from the other team yet some are worried about who is in the bullpen.

Any body a Lefty a Sidearm anybody’s better than the Righty we got in now.

Pull em and send the rest of his team to the showers
