Mary's Take On Monuments

Dear Residents:

Last night the Board of Aldermen at a special meeting approved the plans for the Weatherby Lake Entrance Monuments.  We approved not only the design but to approve construction up to the limits of collected funds.  Jim Miller brought over $136,000 in checks to last night’s meeting!!  It is now time for everyone to think about their interest in supporting this community sponsored endeavor.  Thanks to Jim Miller and the Entrance Advisory Group (EAG) for their three years of difficult work and planning.

This is why governments go into debt. Willy-nilly signs, which did not need to be replaced, are somehow more important than the much needed funds for the infrastructure of this city. Adding insult to injury, who is this stupid woman to pass judgment prioritizing people’s charitable contributions. Maybe, just maybe, people have far more important causes to support.

They look like a sign you would see at a shopping mall, not a quaint community! Disappointing actually.
