Another Mayor with Problems

Today's USA Today:
"Hartford, Conn, Mayor Eddie Perez, a onetime gang leader, surrendered to police to face a bribery charge. Perez, a Democrat, is accused of using a city contractor to renovate his home and not paying for it until after being confronted by investigators.
The three-term mayor admitted he should not have used the contractor, but said he did not commit a crime (italics added). He pledged to remain in office."
Wow. You don't have to make stuff up, just read the newspaper. At least we can brag we have never elected a onetime gang leader...I think.

Unless one personally know Jerry Bos, I'm sure the majority of people have no idea what to think - if he is a good guy or bad guy. Correct me where I'm wrong but you're blog implies we may have a bad guy at the wheel. Mike, I'm sure there is some slander concerns but can you detail your apprehensions about Jerry Bos. Okay, the DFA thing is bad and maybe that makes it bad enough that he shouldn't be in office, but if there is anything else out there, and you know - can you elaborate? For lack of better words - people have a right to know.

Anonymous 1/29/09 10:31am....I'm sorry but Jerry Bos and his buddy Mr.Hanman paid 12 million dollars to stay out of jail....what does that say? To me it says he is a guilty so and so. Seriously, it is enough.

Mike your doing a great job don't let them get you down.

Our city is in bad shape when it comes to leaders with morals. Bos should resign as Mayor, but (be careful what you wish for) that would put Mary Hoy (Mayor Pro-Tem) in charge. Hoy would be worse. I vote we let Bos finish his two-year term.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Independence City Manager Robert Heacock was cited for driving while intoxicated, Lee's Summit police said.
According to the police report, an officer stopped Heacock after he observed “suspicious circumstances." The officer said there was a second person in the car, the two were seen getting dressed.

When the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed that the driver's pants were lowered, according to the police report. The driver apologized for the indecency of the situation and suggested that if the officer would overlook his lewd behavior, the driver would drive directly home without further incident, the report states.

While speaking with Heacock, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage and noticed that Heacock’s eyes were bloodshot and glassy, according to the police report. Heacock failed a series of field sobriety tests, the officer reported. Heacock’s court date has been set for March 12.

I have observed some of our civic leaders with pants lowered as Perry Jr had his way

Too bad we were all being screwed .

Who's Perry Jr.?

Perry Mason is a fictional character, an attorney

Typically, Mason was able to establish his client's innocence by demonstrating the guilt of another character.

A Perry Mason Jr is also fictional a slang term for someone who has no training as an attorney except having watched the Perry Mason show.

Who's your Perry Jr. here at the lake?

This is just sad. Just because you pay money $12 million, does not make you GUILTY. DO you not watch the news people. If you go to McDonalds buy a hot coffee spill it on yourself, and get burned what happens? You then sue for the coffee being hot, and the owner of McDonalds has to pay. NOW did the Owner of McDonalds spill HOT coffee (cuz who would buy cold coffee) on your stupid self? NO but did he have to pay becuase he owns the company YES. Did HE/SHE do anything wrong NO. Lets all stop "Assuming" as I'm sure we all know what they say about those assume.

2/2 734 I don't get your point. You are trying to compare the McDonalds issue with Jerry's commodities trading issue? I suggest you read the consent order.

We should not assume that its bad just because some executives at a milk company made more money for the company and themselves by fixings milk prices

I’m a capilist who hates government regulation

I like it even better when capitalists get in to government and really make things happen for the a company and themselves

Take the former Vice Unitary Executive for example

12 mil isn’t a lot when it is compared to the trillions we will spent winning our current war

We could not ASSUME there was a connecction to all the no bid contracts his company received

I want the truth !!!

Did he pay all of his takes due on the 65 million and the blind trust?

I want more of the good old days when were safe and could torture people if we wanted the real truth
