Pardon The Interruption

More BOA stuff, but first...
January 20th, an important date right? Of course that is Inauguration Day. Good Luck Prez Obama. Right here in WL it is an important day as well...it is the last day of filing for Alderman in WL, one for each ward, East and West. So far Alderman Hoy on the West has filed, nobody on the East, will Pat White file? In any event the voters need a choice, and to borrow from the Obama campaign, the voters need a change. I'll outline my reasons in a later post, it's more important right now to encourage candidates to file. Close of business on the 2oth filing will close. Know someone who might be interested? Encourage them to file. Interested yourself in making WL a better place to live? File. Credentials? You don"t have to be a C level executive to be effective. All you need is common sense and know how to do the right thing. Make decisions that look out for the majority of citizens here at WL. Look past the loud noises that a few make to always decide in favor of the common good. That's it. Surely there are folks out there that are all of that and more. Need more info? Call City Clerk Gwen Cenac, 741-5545.

By the way, there is also a seat open on the WL Fire Protection District. They make the decisions that engage our fire services. Call City Clerk Gwen Cenac for info.

Back to BOA stuff
The Official Unofficial Minutes of the BOA
Barry Road
No progress has been made on the cooperative agreement with KCMO since May/June. In a reassuring note the Mayor has been informed there will be no blasting(dynamite) "by the lake".
The pedestrian bridge (walking bridge) next to the Barry Road Bridge is to be moved by January 15th. Platte County is taking the bridge, finalization of the paperwork should come close to the 15th.
Sonoma Ridge
The owners have promised the walls will be prepared (in fact it looks like they have actually started). They have been slow to follow up their promises with action.
Recycling
Going almost "too well". Both sites have had problems with overfilled bins. Part of the challenge is users who do not crush cardboard boxes (you might want to take off the address labels so we don't know who you are). Alderman Finn has requested additional bins, on back order. Help us out...crush!
Police
Another full time police officer was added to the WL Police Department. Officer Sean Holbrook was an officer at the KCI Airport and has been working part-time here for the past 6 months.

Not done, more to come.

While we complain about the city and WLIC check out this ad on craigslist; http://kansascity.craigslist.org/bar/985694444.html If you look at the association dues they are only $337/ year to maintain the Lakes (yes plural) Golf Course, Club House and Swimming Pool (yes plural again) and roads. So how is it we pay SO much more yet are always having fees raised by the WLIC. How about by purchasing rediculous plots of land and attorney fees we don't need. We have several attorneys here at the lake why can they not help with legal issues?? I'm sure several would VOLUNTEER their services.

It's pathetic how uninformed you are. If you think it's so bad here - move.

Ignorance is bliss until it filters out into stupid, uninformed comments like the first one. Then it exposed itself for what it is. I checked out the site and think you should move there. There's no comparison.

For all those who have been unhappy with the current WL council, now is the time to step up and do something about the so called "click". Those behind the anonymous weatherbylakecitizens@gmail.com - where are you? Who ever it was that sent out that misleading ( and fraudulent) postcard during the election two years ago - where are you? Maybe people aren't stepping up because they don't want to be raked over the coals as some on the present council have been. For those who post repeated objections about the present WL council, if the same are voted in, you are cowards for not stepping up to the plate and doing something about it.

Sorry 2:54 pm, and i say this without malice: I have friends w property at Lynn Valley. I've been there many times over the past 20 years. Unless you want a camping trailer park surrounding your property and roads that do get maintained-- but many are mostly gravel, I'd recommend not making that comparison again. Great for the weekend getaway from KC when you don't have the benefits of WL. But in NO WAY considered comparable real estate.

PS....we used to have resident attorneys on the board. But as 4:35pm suggested, unless you're willing to get beat up in a pretty public way, it's hard to get anyone to step up to the plate.

A problem with out great lake is the "rediculous" complaints from the idiots like the first writer.

Its hard to believe that they live here but still cant appreciate what we have and need to protect.

We once had attorney fees to protect the lake now we spend attorney fees because Perry Mason and his dwindling crew of all knowing half wits fancy themselves as attorneys.
All they have accomplished is to discourage intelligent people from serving our lake and to impede the progress of numerous WLIC boards.

I'm a little lost. Who is Perry Mason?

Anonymous said...

The real Perry Mason was a Lawyer on Television

We have a Perry Mason here at the lake and his only legal expertise and qualifications to be in a courtroom are that he watched that show.

Given the number of lawsuits he's filed against us and by acting as his own attorney, I think you must mean Paul. He continues to drain this community financially and emotionally for his own agendas.

Anonymous said...

I do not know Paul, but I would say we still are overpaying attorney fees here in this city. Not only the city, but the WLIC. I am new and don't yet know about all of the lawsuits. However I do see money being spent like there is an unlimited credit card balance and a shop happy teenager at the mall!!!

You're right: you're new and don't have information. I would encourage you to stop by the WLIC office and chat with the folks there to find out information. Also attend their meeting on the 19th. Its easy to criticize when you don't have all the facts.

Nothing wrong with being new and asking questions. Many people (who have been here a long time) feel there is an open checkbook. But January 12, 2009 8:49 AM is right. Go to the meetings, get the information and speak out.

In other words get the facts before you start taking positions or making uninformed statements

The rest of us suffer because to many people are dont step up except when it comes to complaining

Well said anon Jan 13 4:35

Anonymous said...

1/13 4:35am. Have you personally "STEPPED UP"????? And if so when???

Anonymous said...

I have stepped up

I learned....

There are a few people serving at any given time that work hard to get things done.

There are many who are uninformed most of the time.

There are a few who work against those serving all the time to keep things from getting done.

Where do you fall 1 13 4:35 AM in the second or third group?
