East Side, West Side, All Around The Town

As of 5 PM yesterday filing for the April elections closed. The results:

East Ward-No Filing
West Ward-Mary Hoy
WL Fire Protection District: Bob Renton, Edward Barbosa

Doesn't take much in depth analysis here. Nobody was interested in representing the East Ward, including the current incumbent Pat White. Status quo on the West Ward as incumbent Mary Hoy is running unopposed.

There are two seats up for election on the WLFPD and the two incumbents filed. Election rules for special districts are governed by separate election rules, therefore, Mr Renton and Mr Barbosa will continue to represent us and the the WLFPD will not appear on the April ballot.

Hmmm. Maybe nobody wants to undergo the continual criticism from this blog. Maybe people are tired of the mean spirited, negative comments from the bloviate bloggers and the "Citizens for Good Government"?? Let no good deed go unpunished - that appears to be the theme here. Just a thought....

Does that mean that there will be an empty seat on the Council for the entire term? Or does the mayor then have the right to "appoint" someone? I'm not clear on protocol.

I agree very much with Jan 21 (6:29) quote. Nobody wants or needs to live in a community where "neighbors" treat volunteers of city government so badly.

Without a doubt, this blog and our good "Citizens for Good Government" are responsible for no one wanting to serve.

So... Nice job bloggers and "Citizens for Good Government" emailers! If getting folks not to serve was the idea, job well done!!

You all need to stop kidding yourselves and everyone else. Jerry Bos has lined up who he would like to appoint to East Ward.

You also forget there has been many, many elections where people have not run or an election bid was unopposed.

Have you actually faced the question on why some were down on Pat White and yet Tanya Finn has steered clear of criticism.

Ahhhh...the conspiracy theories begin! So now there was a major plan all along to make sure no one ran so that the Mayor can appoint who he wants? I think you must be watching too much TV. I think 4:51 is right on - who needs all this crap. As for White/Finn - their actions speak for themselves. I don't know all that Finn does but I know she does a lot for this community. We have her to thank for the recycle bins.

Stupid. January 22, 2009 5:27 AM you are trying to read things in between the lines. Do you honestly think Jerry Bos hasn't thought about who he would appoint to East Ward if no one steps up to the plate. Further stupid. . . let me finish the statment and intent . . . Have you actually faced the question on why some were down on Pat White and yet Tanya Finn has steered clear of criticism. Because Tanya Finn has works very hard and truly listens without narrow-mindedness.

Our country is an economic crisis. Many of us have half our retirement wiped out. Did it occur to some of you that the highly experienced and competent people we have at Weatherby Lake are in job survival mode? There is much more going on in peoples lives at the moment that far exceed Weatherby Lake politics. It's not all about WL disapproval ratings and people terrified of a few critics.

Jerry Bos has been charged with and found guilty of fraud. The courts and prosecuting attorneys all must be in on some conspiracy. WL citizens surely have no justification to pass judgment on the mayor. Get real WL! He is making decisions concerning our city and our money at the moment. There should be concern and questions!
