KCMO Takes A Dump (Again) On WL

The Official Unofficial Minutes of the WL BOA
July 5th

During the Mayor's Comments, Jerry addressed the latest sewer spill " a couple of weeks ago, I don't know exactly when"  (it was Saturday, June 25th).  Attributed to a "lightning strike"  the outage occurred at approximately 8:30 AM and lasted until 12:30 PM.  Sewage was observed flowing out the "Jackson manhole" (wouldn't you like to have a manhole named after you?) and called in.  Jerry chuckled as he shared with the BOA the pumpers dispatched to relieve the lift station of its burden were sent to the wrong community, "somewhere south of the river"...didn't seem too funny to me.

What exactly was the problem?  The control box was not functioning properly, spawning the observation by Hizzoner, "we need to understand what happened on the control box".  Indeed.

Not much concern or feedback from the Aldermen.  Immediately following Jerry's discourse the Aldermen have their "Aldermen's comments"  Great opportunity to show a little outrage...nah.  Instead pet projects like stop signs, fireworks, trees and microphones were the focus of their comments.

The City is content to eat what KCMO is serving them.  In this case...a crap sandwich...yummm!

Nothing new, we have been fed a steady diet of crap from KCMO and both the city and WLIC seem to like it.

Now the excuses/reasons will come from the city and wlic regarding no action being taken. You can cut the crust off, it is still a crap sandwich.

who is mores sly? Jerry or Sly?

Mike, you and others continually complain about how City of WL and WLIC handle KC but what exactly would you have them do? File a lawsuit, threats, etc.?

Lawsuit(s)-yes
Enforce city ordinances-yes
Tough negotiation, including threats-yes

Follow two path strategy-the City protects its interests, WLIC advocates on behalf of the corporation. Make KCMO fight on two fronts. It's nice to work together but I think it plays into the hands of KCMO. Can we stake our future on promises that continue to be unfulfilled? Do you think KCMO really sees us as a neighbor? How many times should we accept "we're sorry"? Is there anything more important to our lake community than the lake?

Your reply 10:11?

We are weak and deserve to be dumped on

Thank Perry Mason Jr and his friend Jerry

From 10:11. Mike, I appreciate your response. There are numerous quick jabs on this blog but no substance as to exactly what the powers-to-be should be doing. A hard-line negotiator sounds like what you are putting out there but do you remember Rick Noble? I thought Rick Noble got things done but in the end he was vilified by nearly everyone – in and outside of WL - for his forceful approach. Are you saying (and this truly is a question) we have nothing to lose by going after KC?

Rick was "vilified" by a false political smear campaign

In the end the truth came out about those working against your best interests in the shadows.

He deserves more recognition and better than what was done to him as he had no agenda other than to preserve the lake.

Many of the projects C point and the Peret Dam came about as a result of Ricks foresight and leadership

Lets see

"There are numerous quick jabs on this blog but no substance as to exactly what the powers-to-be should be doing"

Maybe I expect some ideas from our leadership

"jerry chuckled as he shared with the BOA the pumpers dispatched to relieve the lift station of its burden were sent to the wrong community, "somewhere south of the river"...didn't seem too funny to me.

So we should expect the people who post to come up with a response other than what the BOA does to ignore the big turd in the room hoping it will go away

10:45: You are right, the answers and initiative should come from our "voted in" leadership but it's not. Operative words: "voted in" by you - Weatherby Lake Joe Blow Public. Also obvious, it's easier to make jabs as no one out there in this blog have any solutions with substance either. So are you any better than our mayor or council? Did it occur to anyone, Weatherby Lake plainly doesn’t have anyone in its demographic base with the ability or interest to give the kind of leadership needed? So what we have on our council and WLIC is about the best we’re going to get, as mediocre as they are. So if you’re going to make jabs and not run for office, why don’t you instead come up with some solutions? This blog is a great place to do it.

I would like to remind everyone, one of the major complaints in the past is how much it will cost for Weatherby Lake to defend itself. Are you prepared to fork out the money?

The unanswered question to Mike:
“Are you saying we have nothing to lose by going after KC? “
With all of the “inept talk” about the WL city council and WLIC, there should be some dialogue about the ramifications in going after KC.

My solution: Rick Noble, if you’re reading this or if someone knows him, “There are people out there who would like to have you back.”

Monday morning!!! Weatherby Lake received a new pump at turtle cove.
Was this pump station not working??

There would be a change in interest by qualified Weatherby Lake citizens if the mayor's position came with a standard salary.
