Monumental Redux

The Official Unofficial Minutes of the WL BOA
July 5th

"Match our eyeballs with our bellies" that's the strategy going forth with the EAG Committee as Jerry refers to their "stagnant" status (interesting choice of words).  An executive meeting was held on the 6th of July to revive what has become another moribund committee established by Jerry and the BOA.  There is an intention to have a meeting of the full committee soon to go over cost estimates (a continuing theme as the committee persists in bumping up against the reality of what they want versus what they can afford).
Year two of those who pledged funds to support the effort is soon to expire...will the committee be requesting them to pay up?  Stay tuned.

I'm wondering what's happening at Eastside. Are we going to have a blank entrance there in three weeks when Amity opens? I mean, if it opens.

Thought it said somewhere in this blog, 36K had already been spent from the original 50K paid by KC. Have 14K left for the Eastside sign?

It is like hiring a gardener versus someone to mow the lawn or
Buying an Acura versus a Honda or
Shopping at Hen House versus Aldi’s.

The sign proposal had never been practical or realistic.
The money simply isn’t there.

Weatherby Lake is not a Church or club

Why are funding infrastructure with donations ?

Because we wont do any thing to force KCMO to fix their sewer infrastructure I would prefer we use the money to fix the equipment that keeps failing and dumping sewage in our lake

Cant we do without the signs?

Its the lake that makes life good at Weatherby Lake

This all started out with the removal of Eastside sign. It grew into replacing all the signs. KC paid a fair price considering what was already there. Should have replaced the sign and looked at some long term plan for the rest. (Even though it is questionable whether the rest need to be replaced.) That is called responsible city management - no different than what most of us do in our everyday lives with our personal debt and budget.

Exactly Jackdaw! Unfortunately, Eastside was never really on the radar screen except in a most cursory way. Most of the planning, re-planning, dollars spent were wasted trying to figure out how they could build the city hall entrance into the "entrance into our community". It is the grandest of the designs and the least important in terms of impact. Just a waste and it pisses me off.
